7th Italian Research Conference on Digital Libraries
IRCDL 2011: Focus on Information Access and Interoperability
IRCDL is a yearly deadline for Italian researchers on Digital Libraries related topics. This year
the focus of IRCDL is on information access and interoperability, in fact Digital Library
Systems start to be mature, but it is time to give a more effective and personalized access to
information to users and to improve interoperability among heterogeneous available
systems. The Semantic Web is emerging as a set of tools and methods that can respond to
many of the DL requirements, especially Linked Data is likely to play a central role in
interoperability.
The IRCDL conferences have been launched and initially sponsored by DELOS, an EU FP6
Network of Excellence on digital libraries together with the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua. Over the years IRCDL has
become a self sustainable event sponsored by the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua and supported by the Italian Digital Library Research Community.
